Bio

 

Margaret Baxter is senior vice president, operations and international affairs. In this capacity she administers several OESA peer councils, and is responsible for related committees, special projects and events. Baxter is the policy liaison for government affairs. She also manages the international activities of OESA.

Prior to joining OESA in 2000, Baxter worked for seven years at the Canadian Consulate in Detroit, Mich., as an international trade officer. In this capacity, Baxter provided consulting services to Canadian suppliers of automotive parts and services.

Before working at the Consulate, Baxter was employed as a development associate for the Detroit Economic Growth Corp. working with overseas trade delegations and companies seeking establishment in the Detroit area. Other experience includes work in advertising, marketing and education.

Baxter has a bachelor's degree in political science and international relations from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and a master's degree in French history from Middlebury College and the University of Paris, Nanterre, France, as well as a certificate from the Foreign Service Institute of Canada.

Position Description

  1. Responsible for the Chief Executive Officers Council, Legal Issues Council, Environment, Health and Safety Council, China Strategy Council and the IP Committee
  2. Liaison with MEMA Washington, D.C. Office
  3. Responsible for Model Terms and Conditions Project, Intellectual Property Committee
  4. Responsible for international issues and economic development issues
  5. Develop special projects including studies, briefings and special issues and events
