Mike Shapiro is executive director, business development for OESA. In this role, Mike is responsible for business development activities. This function includes administration of several OESA peer group councils including the Product Development Council and Technology Forum as well as developing new business by executing OESA events, affinity programs and new partnerships with outside organizations.

Mike has extensive business development experience, with more than 18 years in the profession. He worked nine years with automotive suppliers on business development initiatives for the Detroit Regional Chamber, where he was Director, Regional Business Development. During his time at the Detroit Regional Chamber, Mike successfully implemented business development strategies with his clients to tap into diversification opportunities. Additionally, Mike has six years combined entrepreneurial experience as part of three start-up companies.

Mike is actively involved in community organizations and projects as a member of the Board of Directors for Community Homes and past board member of the South Oakland Shelter. He has also volunteered for the United Way for Southeast Michigan. Mike is a member of numerous professional associations including the Society of Automotive Engineers, Society of Automotive Analysts, National Defense Industry Association and the Great Lakes Entrepreneurial Quest.

Mike holds an MBA from Walsh College and a Bachelor of Science degree from Northwood University.
