OESA is represented in Washington under the umbrella of MEMA – the Motor Equipment Manufacturers Association. Motor equipment suppliers make up the nation's single largest manufacturing sector, directly employing more than 685,000 Americans. These jobs contribute to 3.29 million additional private sector jobs across the country.

MEMA advocates on behalf of suppliers on issues of legislative and regulatory interest to the industry. OESA works with members to interpret the impact on industry of legislation and regulation, and strives to provide guidance to MEMA based on member needs and interests. OESA members are encouraged to participate in the MEMA Government Affairs Committee and the Regulatory Affairs Committee , both as a way to access important information, and to influence policy in Washington.
