OESA offers many beneficial activities and services to members.
Peer Groups Councils
OESA provides a forum for members to address issues of common interest
through Peer Group Councils. Councils meet quarterly and agendas are based on council member interests with a strong focus on networking and dialogue on specific issues. Peer Group Councils include:
OESA Role in Addressing Specific Issues
OESA
addresses a number of issues affecting the OE supplier industry. Legislative and regulatory issues are typically
addressed
through the Government Affairs Committee comprised of
35 executives from member companies. The GAC is administered by
the MEMA Washington,
D.C., office and is supported by OESA. Most industry-specific
issues are addressed through OESA councils and study groups.

The OESA monthly newsletter provides an analysis
of industry
trends, lists new members, features articles by industry experts, announces
OESA activities and provides a calendar of upcoming events.
- OESA Bulletins and Strategic Information
Bulletins are the primary vehicle for strategic OESA member communication.
Bulletins contain information on surveys
and results, announcements and registration for events. Bulletins also distribute OESA position
statements on industry issues, government legislation or regulations, including: cost reduction initiatives, warranty and a number of supplier-OEM issues identified and addressed
through forums, meetings and other communications with the
OEMs.

Published annually the "OESA Member Directory" includes
complete member company information as made available by members.
- OESA Web site and Electronic Mail
http://www.oesa.org provides members with an up-to-date listing of
events and activities, membership list, current and past monthly
newsletters
and
access to recent conference presentations,
council information and registration for events.
Industry, Government and Public Relations
- OESA as a Voice for the Industry
OESA serves as a voice for the supplier industry. Occasionally,
sensitive issues arise that are difficult for any single
supplier to discuss
publicly. OESA can voice the collective concerns of the supplier
community based on confidential information members share with
OESA.
- Public Relations
and Media
As a voice for the supplier community, OESA responds to media
inquiries regarding specific events or trends in the industry.
OESA is a credible
third-party source for the media to access for thought leadership
on the impact specific actions and events have on the supplier
community.
OESA also works to enhance the industry image and promote
its importance to the economy. The OESA message reinforces the
significant
contribution
of the OE supply base to employment, taxes paid,

- Government Relations and Lobbying
OESA works closely with MEMA to present the industry views to federal and state
legislators
and regulatory agencies. This activity is primarily managed
by the MEMA Washington, D.C., office. OESA members
participate
on the Government Affairs Committee, a primary source
of member input on specific issues.
- Participate in a Leadership Role in Industry-Related Activities
and Interests
Participation in industry-related activities enhances awareness of
OESA and increases the credibility of OESA staff with the industry
and community.
The OESA staff includes senior industry leaders who serve on boards
of a wide range of industry related societies, associations and
educational
institutions.
Industry Forums, Networking, Conferences and Workshops
- OESA Annual Conference and General Meeting of Members
Each Fall, more than 500 OESA members and industry colleagues gather to gain insight from industry leaders through presentations and panel discussions. The General
Meeting of
Members provides members an opportunity to receive an update on the
state of the
industry and the association activities and elect the leadership of the association.
- Special Issues Seminars/Workshops/Town Hall Meetings
OESA develops events to inform and educate members on specific
issues affecting member companies. The format includes breakfast
meetings, half-day and full-day workshops on more complex topics.
Most events are open to all members.
Other Affiliations, Strategic Alliances, Program & Services
- Board of Directors
OESA’s distinguished board of directors is comprised of
senior OE supplier industry executives. Quarterly, these
industry leaders review OESA objectives and services and provide
direction and priority
to OESA staff. The board is a vital source of feedback on business
and industry issues and lends significant credibility to OESA
as a voice
for the OE supplier community.
- Affiliation with Other Organizations to Promote Synergy
OESA has formed alliances with other organizations dedicated
to the interests of the automotive industry to promote the industry,
provide
synergy and
to minimize duplication. These include organizations and activities
such as: the Automotive News PACE™ Award,
SAE International, Automotive Industry Action
Group,
Center For Automotive Research and others.
- Affiliation with MEMA
OESA is an affiliate of the Motor & Equipment
Manufacturers Association, focused exclusively
on the automotive light vehicle OE supplier
industry.
The automotive
supplier industry also includes the aftermarket and
heavy duty industry sectors. These are supported by the Automotive
Aftermarket Suppliers
Association and the Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association.
MEMA is the overall “umbrella” association providing
synergy with services of interest to each of the market segment associations,
such as lobbying and international office services.
Responsiveness to Specific Member Interests and Inquiries
OESA uses peer group councils as the primary tool to
address member interests and concerns within each area of responsibility. OESA administers specific issue surveys to better understand
member needs and issues. This data is collated and shared on a
non-attribution
basis with members who participate. The information is useful benchmarking
data to help members decide on specific courses of action. OESA
also responds to individual member inquiries regarding the industry,
market
data and company information.
Financial Management
OESA is financially self-supporting from member dues
and event fees.
