USAutoPARTs (U.S. Automotive Partnership for Advancing Research & Technologies) is a supplier-based, industry driven, Federal Government, State of Michigan partnership that will perform pre-competitive, collaborative research, to advance cost-effective emerging technologies and ultimately speed the commercialization of automotive technologies.
The partnership is open for membership to any supplier with an established research presence in the United States. More than a dozen suppliers and other relevant organizations have participated in developing the business case and organizational structure and more are expected. Suppliers will participate in defining the research projects and strategic direction for the partnership, as well as participate in the research. Three suppliers and the Original Equipment Suppliers Association (OESA) serve on the organizing board of USAutoPARTs.
USAutoPARTs recently named Stephen E. Zimmer as executive director. Zimmer has more than 30 years of automotive experience with Chrysler and Ford Motor Company. His experience with executive leadership ranges from assignments in R&D, product development, advanced vehicle engineering, procurement and supply, supplier quality, logistics and strategic planning.
