Jim Gavin serves as head of purchasing for ADAC Automotive, a privately-held, family-owned, tier-one automotive supplier that manufactures exterior and interior door handles with integrated electronics, exterior trim and exterior mirrors for the global automotive market.

Jim is responsible for the procurement of production parts and tooling for all commodities including electronics, resin, injection molding, chrome plating, paint raw material, die casting, fasteners, springs and stampings. He also directs supplier development, global logistics, tool engineering, packaging and program budget administration.  Over his 25-year career at ADAC, Jim has also held roles in cost estimating and continuous improvement. 

Jim has significant involvement in strategic purchasing decisions for ADAC’s ADAC-Strattec de Mexico, or ASdM, joint venture.  ASdM has locations in both Juarez and Leon, Mexico and ADAC has sourcing responsibility for all supplier sourcing decisions for ASdM. 

In 2006, ADAC Automotive partnered with WITTE Automotive of Velbert, Germany and STRATTEC SECURITY CORPORATION of Milwaukee, Wisconsin to form Vehicle Access Systems Technology, or VAST. Through this innovative global partnership, ADAC and the VAST alliance members provide access systems product solutions to global automotive customers utilizing established sales, engineering and manufacturing locations throughout North America, Europe, Asia and South America. Jim has responsibility for the coordination of global sourcing strategies among the VAST partners.  He is a member of the VAST global purchasing team which is responsible for procurement for North America, South America, China and Europe.

Jim Gavin is a graduate of DePaul University with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance.
