Event Details

Many companies in the automotive sector are likely to be impacted by the new United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). This agreement will have a profound effect on all levels of the automotive supply chain. To help companies understand implications of the agreement on the supply chain, suppliers and industry guests are invited to attend the Original Equipment Suppliers Association’s (OESA) Alabama Regional Supplier Briefing on the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement on April 9, 2019, at the DoubleTree Birmingham Perimeter Park, Birmingham, Alabama. 

Attendees will hear from C.J. Mahoney, deputy United States trade representative, Office of the United States Trade Representative, as well as Jason Bernstein, director for customs affairs, and Fred Fischer, director for industry affairs, Office of U.S. Trade Representative, Executive Office of the President. Bernstein and Fischer helped to negotiate the USMCA and will offer their insight into the agreement and answer questions from attendees.

In addition, Leigh Merino, vice president, regulatory affairs, Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA), Karin Muller, director, customs compliance and trade governance, Magna International Inc., and Steve Gardon, vice president global indirect taxes & customs, Lear Corporation, will discuss how suppliers can prepare for the implementation of the USMCA.

Suppliers and trade specialists who have a responsibility understand trade agreements or whose business is impacted by trade between the United States, Canada and Mexico should plan to attend this session.
